Marine Insulation: Rockwool Thermal & Acoustic Solutions
High-performance thermal and acoustic insulation materials, including Rockwool and glass wool, to ensure safety, comfort, and energy efficiency on board.

Ensuring Safety and Comfort at Sea
Marine insulation is a critical, non-negotiable material used throughout a vessel to control heat, prevent the spread of fire, and reduce noise. Our range of marine-grade Rockwool and glass wool products provides the highest levels of thermal and acoustic performance. Proper insulation is key to creating a safe and comfortable environment for the crew, protecting machinery spaces, and improving the vessel’s overall energy efficiency.
Key Features:
- A-60 Fire Protection
- Superior Acoustic Performance
- High Thermal Resistance
- Class Certified Materials
Frequently Asked Questions
What fire rating (e.g., A-60) can be achieved with your marine insulation?
An A-60 fire rating is achieved by using our certified Rockwool (mineral wool) insulation at a specific density and thickness, installed according to the type approval certificate. As your supply partner, we ensure you receive the correct specification of insulation to meet A-60 or other required fire ratings for your bulkheads and decks. We provide the full certification and technical documentation with the material delivery.
What type of insulation should I use for different areas like bulkheads, engine rooms, and pipes?
The type of insulation depends on the application. For A-60 fire-rated bulkheads and decks, high-density Rockwool batts are required. For acoustic separation in accommodation areas, lighter-density batts are effective. For engine rooms, we recommend high-density Rockwool with a reinforced foil facing for both acoustic and thermal control. For pipes and ducting, we supply pre-formed pipe sections and foil-faced rolls for easy application and optimal thermal efficiency.
Do you also supply the necessary installation accessories like pins and tape?
Yes, we supply the complete insulation system. As part of our material package, we provide all necessary accessories for a professional installation, including welding pins, speed clips (washers), and reinforced aluminum foil tape for sealing joints. This ensures your team has all the correct, compatible materials on-site, simplifying procurement and guaranteeing a compliant installation.
What are the main differences between Rockwool (Mineral Wool) and Glass Wool?
Both are excellent insulators, but they have different strengths. Rockwool (or Mineral Wool) is denser, has a higher melting point, and offers superior fire resistance and acoustic absorption, making it ideal for A-60 divisions and noisy areas. Glass Wool is typically lighter in weight and is also a very effective thermal and acoustic insulator, often used in accommodation areas where the highest fire ratings are not required. We can help you select the most cost-effective solution for each area of your vessel.
Is your marine Rockwool insulation water-repellent?
Yes. All our marine-grade Rockwool insulation products are impregnated with a water-repellent agent. This prevents the fibers from absorbing moisture from the humid marine air or minor leaks. This is critical because insulation that becomes wet loses its thermal properties and can contribute to corrosion (CUI – Corrosion Under Insulation) on the steel structure. Our water-repellent insulation ensures long-term performance and protection.
